Butcher’s Shop of the Year
The 2019 Meat Trades Journal`s Butchers Shop of the Year Awards were held in London. Butchers from all over the UK travelled to the prestigious venue at The Hilton London Bankside. There was a five strong representation from Scotland.
Regional winners were announced first and the Scottish Butchers Shop of the Year was an impressive Aberdeenshire business, Bert Fowlie in the small village of Strichen which lies seven miles south of Fraserburgh.
The other Scottish butchers shops who reached the final three were Scott Brothers in Strathmartine Road, Dundee, and S Collins & Son, Muirhead, Glasgow.
There was Scottish representation in four other categories.
New Butchery Business of the Year
Strachan Craft Butchers in Blantyre were finalists in this category, just missing out on the title.
Butchers Display of the Year
S Collins & Son in Muirhead were worthy winners of this new category. with the judges commenting on the outstanding standard of their presentation.
Online butchers business of the Year
S Collins & Son were finalists in this category, just missing out on the title.
Young Butcher of the Year
Callum Morrice from Bert Fowlie Butchers in Strichen was the Scottish Finalist in this category narrowly missing out on the top prize.

Champion of Champions
The Scottish Pork Sausage Champion, Ballards in Castle Douglas were the finalists upholding a strong Scottish representation at this years awards. However the judges taste buds were not tempted by this exceptional product on this occasion.
