Kintore butchers ready for Parliamentary visit
Tuesday, 9th Feb 2016Rumours that craft butcher skills are dying out are far from true. As part of the Scottish Modern Apprenticeship Week, the meat industry’s largest training provider, Perth based Scottish Meat Training have revealed that they currently have 190 candidates working towards MAs, another 50 about to be inducted and the 700th MA certificate about to be presented in Brechin during that week.
Scottish Meat Training’s achievers are everywhere throughout the country from Alloway to Scalloway but one of the strongest supporters of the programme is local butchers, J&G Dossett in KIntore.
J&G Dossett will host both Mr Christian Allard MSP and Mr Dennis Robertson MSP on Monday 29th February at 12.30pm. For Christian Allard MSP for North East Scotland, he is delighted to be visiting his local butcher where there are three trainees working towards a Modern Apprenticeship in Meat and Poultry Skills.
John Farquhar from the training provider, Scottish Meat Training, and Jim Ritchie from Skills Development Scotland who will also be attending the visit.
There will be two Modern Apprentices present on the day, Emma McLean and Greg McDonald, both at level 2 of their apprenticeships.
We are delighted that Mr Allard and Mr Robertson are getting involved in Scottish Apprenticeship Week this year and hope the visit will be a success.
