Craft Skills Scotland delivers top quality on-the-job training solutions to help the Scottish Food and Drink sector face up to the changing standards in the industry.

Specialising in Scottish Vocational Qualifications in Meat and Meat Processing, Scottish Craft Butcher Certificates and Diplomas are also available through Craft Skills Scotland.

In 1981 the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders set up its own Training Organisation to take forward training in the industry. This trades as Craft Skills Scotland (Previously known as Scottish Meat Training).

Back in the 80s it was noted that Further Education Colleges were unable to provide the level of resource to deliver this specialised training. This situation still prevails.

As the representative body for the industry SFMTA understood the need to develop a culture of good quality training to ensure the long term survival of the industry.
