The best butcher's steak pie is made by Andrew Kirk who has butchers' shops in Cardenden and Kinghorn.

Lisa Thomson was delighted to receive the award from contest sponsor, David Mooney of William Sword. As a Sword's customer, she was willing to give away some of the secrets in making a successful pie:-

"I would like to thank Scobie & Junor who we buy our steak pie seasoning and gravy mix from and Scotbeef who supply us with quality beef, we prefer using the round of beef and give it a long slow cook so that it is always tender. Our pies are really popular and to win this title only confirms what our customers already think."

Beef Leek and Horseradish were the ingredients in the pie that came out on top in the Speciality Pie championship for James Pirie & Son. A firm favourite amongst Alan's customers. David Mooney of sponsors William Sword Bakers presented Alan Pirie with the Diamond Award at his shop in Church Street, Newtyle.

This award coincides with Alan celebrating 50 years in the trade having started with his father, James, in 1965. Alan is no stranger to winning awards - 165 of them over his 50 years in the industry - but Diamond Awards are very rare and this one will be proudly displayed in the window of his Newtyle shop.
