Hugh Black and Sons is a family business which has received huge respect from within the trade section due to their unrivalled growth.
Established in 1987 by the late Mr Hugh Black, whose background specializing in farming prime beef cattle, proved an asset to the introduction of their butchery business.
Now run by his sons Craig and Hugh the company has grown considerably and currently has shops in Armadale, Bathgate, Lanark, Cambuslang, Carluke and Airdrie, employing over 70 local people who provide the best in customer service.
This relentless expansion has been possible due to their investment in a 9,500 square foot purpose built preparation and distribution premises, situated in the heart of Bathgate. With a dedicated staff and specific purpose built production areas they have achieved the highest level of EEC approval granted by Food Standards Agency and Meat Hygiene Services.
By selecting through the auction system at Lanark and Stirling livestock markets they are able to source only the finest animals from a collection of Scottish Farms. Annually they purchase around 650 cattle, 1300 lambs and 750 pigs, proving their commitment and support for Scottish farming.
