After leaving the management team of J W Galloway, Glasgow. J B Hamilton & Sons moved to Biggar in 1966 and went into business for themselves. Although JB has since retired, the shop continues under the management of son Ian and grandson John.
Beef is purchased from a local farmer as well as Chapmans of Wishaw. Pork is purchased from Ramsays of Carluke and lamb is sourced from Carlisle market. The popular steak pies received the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Gold award 2007 and in 2009 the West of Scotland Haggis Champion.
Grandson John is an active member of Lanarkshire Butchers Association and was President from 2006-2008.
