Of the 10 full time staff we have, 5 have been trained on food hygiene to intermediate level, and 2 are getting specialist further training from Scottish Meat Training. We have a continuous training programme but what really sets our shop apart from most of the others is the quality of products we sell especially in the manufactured products.
In our time we have won the Scottish Championship for Sausages not once but twice. We are still the only butchers from North of the Border to have won the title of best sausages in the UK. We have won best burger in the UK and also best burgers in Scotland. We have also won the title of best steak pies in Central Scotland.
And as well as the dozens of other awards won over the years (including Q Guild BBQ Champions twice), the most prestigious was in 2004 when we won the World Haggis Championship and followed that up 3 years later to take the runner up spot.
Another notable feature is that everything we do is done on these single premises. We don`t have a special sausage area. We don`t have a designated boning factory but we do have all the expertise to do all these tasks on one site with one set of talented workers.
