S Collins & Son, The Award Winning Butcher, was established in 1955 by the Grandfather of the present day business. The original Stewart Collins was succeeded by his son Stewart Collins and now by Stewart’s sons Stewart & Fraser Collins.
The hallmark of each and every business is quality.
Since 1979, first class cattle have been bought from Morgan’s Farm of Glenboig. One of the criteria in our family business is "buy the best" making it easier to sell, giving the saying "well bought, half sold" and so has resulted in the firm winning many awards.
And when it comes to quality and customer service, the butchers S Collins & Son at Muirhead, is second to none. As well as top quality locally produced beef, pork, lamb and poultry, there’s cooked meat, pies, baked goods and fresh fish.
Indeed, so professional and expert are the quality butchers at the shop, the company has won a raft of awards, honours including a first at the Guild of Q Butchers National Barbecue Championships. S Collins & Son’s Muirhead Pork Sausages and Steak Pies were also judged best in the West of Scotland at the Scottish Federation of Meat Traders Association in Perth, beating 180 entries from all over the country.
With Stewart, his father and the shop manager all master butchers, as well as another seven staff, every customer can be sure of a friendly smile and some great advice. And when you get those days when you haven’t the faintest idea what to do for tea, the girls in the shop are happy to come up with an idea or two for a meal!
Certainly, if you’re a bit unsure of how or what to order over the counter, or just want some advice, everyone at the shop is happy to help: If you want a special cut, boned, rolled, stuffed or whatever, the team pride themselves of meeting everyone’s needs.

S Collins & Son is a member of the Guild of Q Butchers and is inspected by not only the local authority but also an independent European body for the most rigorous hygiene standards, with every member of staff trained in hygiene management.
